We have another new exhibition up in the Foyer this month – this time it’s a community arts project “The village outside my window” – led by Juliet Overton. You can see the work here in the Foyer from 2016 when we are open 10am- 12noon weekdays, and she invites more people to participate: she says
‘Village out my window’ was inspired originally by a charming book called ‘The city out my window’ by Matteo Pericoli, where we have 63 views on New York as drawings from different eminent people’s windows. I started my ‘Village out my window’ project in 2016 in Westleton, during the summer, as I am always here with family at this time enjoying the village, garden, walks and seaside. I have been coming here since I was about 6! I intended to make it into a little book, but never got round to it as I am not particularly digital savvy…..but now I wish to bring it back to life, expand it and invite more of you to participate.
The main idea for the photographs is that (whilst tourists visit Westleton , take photos and delight in its charm) , residents are quietly viewing the beauties of the village from their own personal perspectives and out of their favourite windows. I am inviting , as the artist, a community participation and sharing of what it means to live in the village. If you are keen to join in, please email me on [email protected]
John Mills will be exhibiting in March and we look forward to his watercolours of people, followed by Barbara Buckley in April. Called Art for ALL, her exhibition will be in in aid of Pancreatic Cancer research . “It will a changing selection of all types of art and pictures, hopefully something for everyone! If anyone else has any good framed pictures they have tired of I would be happy to include them, if they want to give them to me in March with an ideal of the price they would want them to sell for . I hope to make a good donation to this very important medical research”.
We have more fascinating exhibitions booked in the Foyer throughout the year, so watch this space!
