The Model Railway Group’s 1st Exhibition was well received. Here’s a photo from the day and a summary from the Chairmen. Thanks to all who volunteered and exhibited, and to visitors for coming!

150 visitors passed through the doors with about 20 per cent of those being under 16s, which is very encouraging. This also showed in two of the visiting exhibits, which were both expertly constructed and manned by lads in their 20s. All 5 layouts offered something different in terms of scale and theme, ranging from the smallest gauge (2mm =1ft to the largest 7mm=1ft).

There was much interest in the continuing developments of the club’s main layout. Club Chairman, Dennis Adams, says the positive feedback from the public and overwhelming encouragement from the visiting club layouts means YMRC are actively considering a repeat performance next August. He added that the membership has worked extraordinarily hard to make the exhibition a success, and would like to invite more members to their friendly team (contact the Hall’s Centre Manager on 01728 648354 for contact details).

Lastly their very great thanks go to Kathryn Branch and Irene Lucas who provided hot drinks and a splendid array of tasty cakes all day for visitors and exhibitors alike.
